Getting the Nutrition You Need

Once eligibility is determined, an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card is issued that allows participants to obtain nutritional foods specific to their needs. The food packages are redeemable at local WIC participating grocery stores. Food items that may be included on the EBT card are:

  • Milk (1% or fat free for children over age 2 and all women)
  • Cheese
  • Eggs
  • Cereal
  • Baby formula
  • Baby cereal
  • Baby foods
  • Dried beans
  • Peanut butter
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Whole grains
  • Yogurt
  • Tofu

These specific items are provided as a means of supplementing the nutritional needs of the mother and child.

WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program

The Florida Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (eFMNP) provides WIC participants with virtual fundsthat can be used to purchase locally grown, fresh Florida fruits and vegetables. This produce can be purchased from authorized farmers at the selected farmers’ markets during selected timeframes. Virtual funds are disseminated from May to July, and are first come, first served.
