Breastfeeding Promotion and Support

Breastfeeding promotion and support are integral parts of the Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County's (DOH-Santa Rosa) WIC program. WIC is striving to increase the incidence and duration of breastfeeding among women enrolled in our program.

The DOH-Santa Rosa's WIC agency has an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) who is ready to assist mothers in making informed decisions about their feeding choice for their child while instructing them in the basics of breastfeeding. WIC also offers mother-to-mother support through their breastfeeding peer counseling program. Breastfeeding peer counselors are available to support families on their breastfeeding journeys by providing basic breastfeeding education and guidance along the way. In addition, our agency can provide breastfeeding aids such as breast pumps. To speak with our IBCLC, please call 850-564-2272.

Our breastfeeding classes are held every Thursday at the Milton DOH-Santa Rosa WIC office, and also the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the Midway DOH-Santa Rosa WIC office. All classes are led by a trained staff member. If you are interested in attending, contact the WIC office at 850-983-5250.
