Billy Mills is a Native American Olympic gold medalist and nationally recognized as an engaging motivational speaker. Although living with diabetes, Mr. Mills was able to overcome the challenges presented by his disease to win a gold medal in the 10,000-meter run at the 1964 Olympics. The story of his achievement is an inspiration to people of all ages, abilities, and cultures.

As part of DOH-Santa Rosa's efforts in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, we would like to invite him to present his program to our community. Mr. Mills' presentation is an opportunity to reach those populations within our community that are disproportionately affected by chronic diseases, such as diabetes, and provide education on the importance of good nutrition and exercise in maintaining good health.
