The Santa Rosa Department of Health National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) is fully recognized by The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an evidence-based solution to lower the risk, delay, or prevent people with prediabetes from developing diabetes type 2. The program teaches participants how to incorporate physical activity and healthy dietary choices. In addition, it offers tips on managing stress in daily life and staying motivated to reach personal goals.

What Does the Program Offer?

  • 1-year lifestyle change program
  • Group meetings in a group setting
  • Trained lifestyle coach
  • Dietary, physical and motivational support

"Research show that CDC-recognized lifestyle change program participants who lost 5-7% of their body weight and added 150 minutes of exercise per week cut their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by up to 58% (71% for people over 60 years old)."
