Since 2012, the Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County (DOH-Santa Rosa) has been involved in community health improvement planning, utilizing a process called the Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnership (MAPP).

Recently the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) updated to MAPP 2.0. This model emphasizes community engagement, data-driven assessments and improving outcomes for all. The three main phases of the MAPP framework are:

MAPP 2.0 will guide the community health assessment and improvement planning starting in 2024. 

Santa Rosa County works closely with Escambia County due to the shared metropolitan statistical area, as identified by the census bureau. In partnership with the local hospitals, university, and many non-profit organizations, the department of health continues efforts to protect, promote and improve the health of Floridians in the two-county area.
