The We Care Program (under The Volunteer Health Care Provider Program) was established in 2001 to provide quality uncompensated, specialty medical care to uninsured adults living in Santa Rosa County. Patients must be referred by a primary care physician (PCP), or a specialist. Once the referral is received, the patient is contacted for an eligibility interview. Income and residency documentation is required.
We Care participating specialists volunteer their services and are exempt from malpractice lawsuits. Annually, more than $2 million is donated through in-kind services by physicians and area hospitals.
