DOH-Santa Rosa Presents the All Moms All Babies One Mile Color Walk/Run

April 10, 2023

Milton, FL – In recognition of National Minority Health Month, the Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County (DOH-Santa Rosa) promotes breastfeeding for all babies and a healthier community. The All Moms All Babies One Mile Color Walk/ Run will occur on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Bagdad Mill Site Park, located at 4636 Forsyth St., Bagdad, FL 32583

Registration is free and begins at 9:00 a.m.

DOH-Santa Rosa provides education and support for mothers to encourage breastfeeding or receiving breastmilk for all infants. Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life is linked to both mother and infant health benefits. Pediatricians recommend that babies only be fed breast milk for the first six months.

“We hope that families will be excited to participate in a family-oriented event to celebrate breastfeeding in our community,” said Elisabeth Jordan, DOH-Santa Rosa WIC Breastfeeding Program Coordinator. “All moms and babies in Santa Rosa County deserve access to breastfeeding education and support.”

This event encourages families in Santa Rosa County to work toward a more active lifestyle. Everyone is encouraged to wear white clothing and sunglasses during the fun family event. Participants will be showered with food-safe colored powders along the one-mile course. While supplies last, attendees will receive bottled water, a light snack and a gift bag.

“Physical activity is significant for people of all ages to stay happy and healthy,” said Erin Moore, DOH Santa Rosa Minority Health Liaison. “We are excited to provide this safe space and fun opportunity for all families in our community to be active together.”
