Healthy Babies Community Meeting

By DOH Santa Rosa

May 25, 2016

Milton, FL—The Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County is pleased to announce it will be hosting a community meeting to discuss Florida Healthy Babies. Florida Healthy Babies is a collaborative statewide initiative designed to positively influence social determinants of health and reduce racial disparities in infant mortality. The meeting will take place at the DOH-Santa Rosa main location at 5527 Stewart Street in Milton on Wednesday, June 8, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

“Although the infant mortality rate in Santa Rosa County remains relatively low, the loss of even one child is a tragedy,” said DOH-Santa Rosa Administrator Sandra L. Park-O’Hara, ARNP, “We want every baby born in Santa Rosa County to be a healthy baby and will be collaborating with our community partners to help ensure positive birth outcomes.”

Recently, the department invested $1.4 million in the Florida Healthy Babies initiative, which is an effort of the department’s Health Equity Program Council. The Council focuses on helping all Floridians achieve health equity. Part of the funding provided to all 67 counties supports a localized enhanced data analysis of infant mortality to share at a community-action planning meeting to address disparities in infant mortality.
