About Our Health Officer
Sandra L. Park-O'Hara
Sandra L. Park-O’Hara has been the Administrator of the Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County since December 2009. A second generation public health nurse, she is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years’ health care experience. She is Board Certified in Women’s Health and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Her public health experience includes immunizations, tuberculosis control, school health, communicable disease investigation and surveillance, family planning, primary care, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, and public health preparedness. Prior to joining the Florida Department of Health, she served as an emergency medical technician and comptroller for Santa Rosa Emergency Medical Services, and worked in local hospitals in critical care and emergency medicine.
Sandy is actively involved in community outreach efforts and community health improvement planning and has formed strong community partnerships with private health care entities, county and city governing bodies, the Santa Rosa County School District, law enforcement, faith-based organizations, Santa Rosa Animal Control Services, and other state agencies. She is a member of the Santa Rosa County Community Health Improvement Plan Steering Committee, the Board of Directors for the Santa Rosa Kids’ House, Tobacco Free Santa Rosa Coalition, the American Cancer Society, the Emerald Coast Consortium of Health Officers (ECCHO), Bridges Out of Poverty, SAFER Santa Rosa, and North Santa Rosa Lions Club.
She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of West Florida in Pensacola and her certification as an advanced registered nurse practitioner from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
