Disease Investigation and Monitoring
The Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County (DOH-Santa Rosa) has an Epidemiology program that studies communicable and non-communicable diseases and conditions of public health importance. This program assures that diseases are reported timely by physicians and laboratories per Florida Administrative code 64D-3. Other types of investigations are also performed such as:
- Animal bites
- Carbon monoxide exposures
- Pesticide exposures
- Lead exposures
- Chemical exposures
Epidemiologists investigate and study infectious diseases to try and reduce disease spread. In order to effectively investigate diseases, DOH-Santa Rosa's Epidemiology program relies on strong partnerships with:
- Hospital infection control
- Infectious disease doctors
- Pediatricians
- Family practice physicians
- Internal medicine physicians
- Veterinarians
- Laboratories
