BOIL WATER NOTICE ISSUED BY HOLLEY NAVARRE WATER SYSTEM

By DOH-Santa Rosa

March 16, 2018

Navarre, FL -  The Holley Navarre Water System (HNWS) has issued a precautionary boil water notice for homes and businesses located in the following locations:  Hwy 98 between Sound Hammock/Serosa Estates to Sound Retreat/Edgewood Drive, and North of Hwy 98 to Flintwood Drive.

The notice is in response to a six-inch water line break that occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 98 and Sunrise Drive.

Residents are advised to boil all water used for cooking, drinking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes.  A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient.  Bottled water may be used as an alternative.  Tap water can also be disinfected by adding eight drops of unscented household bleach to each gallon of water, then mixing the water and allowing it to stand for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Two independent bacteriological samples will be initiated and the advisory will be lifted as soon as possible. This process routinely takes 48 hours.  Precautionary Boil Water Notices are issued as a part of standard protocol following any loss of water pressure, whether as a result of planned maintenance activities or unscheduled repairs.

HNWS crews completed the repairs at 9:15 a.m. Residents are advised that there is a possibility of discolored water as a result of the outage, and to flush their home’s plumbing by running their taps for a few minutes.  If problems persist, please contact HNWS customer service at 850-939-2427.
