Milton, FL – Locally grown fresh produce will be available at the farmers market sponsored by the Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County WIC program beginning Monday, April 25.  The market will be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until May 10.  After May 10, the market will be open four days each week, Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., through the end of July.

The farmers market will be located in the parking lot of the Healthy Start Coalition, 5505 Stewart Street in Milton, next door to the health department.  It is open to the public and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons will be accepted by USDA certified vendors.

“We are happy to be able to host the farmers market again this year,” said Dede Barrett, operations and management consultant with the DOH-Santa Rosa WIC program.  “We encourage everyone to come out and support local farmers.  Our farmers will accept WIC coupons, but you don’t have to participate in the WIC program to take advantage of the opportunity to purchase fresh, healthy produce.”
